After visiting the temple, you will proceed to Patnitop, a picturesque hill station known for its lush meadows, pine forests, and panoramic views of the Himalayas. This 4-day itinerary ensures a balanced blend of pilgrimage and leisure. The first two days will be spent at Vaishno Devi, where you will trek to the shrine and explore nearby places of interest. On the third day, head to Patnitop to enjoy nature walks, adventure activities, and breathtaking vistas. The last day will be for travel back, carrying memories of both devotion and natural beauty.
Day 1. Arrival in Katra & Vaishno Devi Darshan
Morning:
Arrive in Katra, the base town for the Vaishno Devi pilgrimage. After check-in at your hotel, take some rest and have a light breakfast. Katra is the gateway for the famous Vaishno Devi shrine, and you’ll begin your journey toward the temple early.
Afternoon:
Start your trek to the Vaishno Devi shrine, which is approximately 12 km uphill from Katra. The trek can be done either on foot or by horseback/ponies. Along the way, you will pass through the holy caves of Bhairon Baba, Ardh Kuwari, and other significant spots. The journey offers a deeply spiritual experience as you ascend through scenic landscapes.
Evening:
Reach the Vaishno Devi temple, pay your respects, and take in the serene surroundings. You may also explore nearby temples such as Bhairon Baba's temple at the end of your darshan.
Night:
Overnight stay in Katra or nearby hotels.
Day 2. Explore Vaishno Devi & Return to Katra
Morning:
Post-breakfast, begin your descent from the Vaishno Devi shrine back to Katra. The morning is the best time to experience the quiet and spiritual atmosphere of the trek.
Afternoon:
Once you return to Katra, you may choose to rest or explore the local market. Katra has various small temples, markets for Kashmiri handicrafts, and local delicacies. You can also visit the Vaishno Devi temple complex in Katra.
Evening:
Enjoy an evening of leisure, and indulge in some local shopping. You can visit places like the Vaishno Devi Shrine Board or the nearby caves.
Night:
Stay overnight in Katra.
Day 3. Katra to Patnitop
Morning:
After breakfast, check out from your hotel in Katra and head towards Patnitop, which is around 80 km away. The drive will take around 2 to 3 hours, offering you spectacular views of the mountains and valleys of Jammu.
Afternoon:
Upon reaching Patnitop, check in at your hotel and enjoy a relaxing lunch. Patnitop is famous for its lush green meadows, pine forests, and snow-capped peaks during winters. After lunch, you can go for a nature walk, visit the nearby Nathatop or enjoy a peaceful time in the meadows.
Evening:
In the evening, relax and soak in the natural beauty of Patnitop. You can also enjoy a peaceful boat ride in the local lake or visit the local temples.
Night:
Stay overnight in Patnitop.
Day 4. Patnitop Exploration & Departure
Morning:
Start your day with a hearty breakfast and head out for some more exploration. Patnitop is known for adventure activities like paragliding and skiing (in winter months). You can also visit the nearby Sudh Mahadev Temple, which is a short drive from Patnitop.
Afternoon:
Explore the charming surroundings of Patnitop, including nearby viewpoints such as Shiv Garh. The lush meadows and breathtaking views of the snow-capped mountains provide the perfect backdrop for a relaxing afternoon.
Evening:
After lunch, check out from your hotel and depart for your onward journey. You will be driven back to Jammu or Katra, depending on your departure point.
