Day 1. Arrival in Leh
Arrive in Leh, the capital city of Ladakh, and transfer to your hotel. Leh, situated at 11,500 feet above sea level, offers breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains. Spend the day acclimatizing to the high altitude by resting and relaxing. In the evening, take a leisurely stroll through the Leh market and enjoy the tranquil atmosphere of the region. Enjoy a traditional Ladakhi dinner and rest overnight.
Day 2. Leh Local Sightseeing
After breakfast, visit the famous Shanti Stupa, a white-domed Buddhist monument offering panoramic views of the Leh valley. Then head to the Leh Palace, an ancient structure that gives you a glimpse of Ladakh’s royal past. Afterward, visit Hemis Monastery, one of the largest and most famous monasteries in Ladakh, known for its rich history and beautiful architecture. End the day with a visit to Thiksey Monastery, a beautiful Tibetan-style monastery perched on a hill, offering stunning views of the valley. Return to your hotel for overnight stay.
Day 3. Leh to Nubra Valley via Khardung La
After an early breakfast, drive towards Nubra Valley, crossing Khardung La, one of the highest motorable passes in the world (18,379 feet). The views of the snow-capped peaks and rugged landscapes from the pass are breathtaking. Upon reaching Nubra Valley, check in to your camp or hotel. In the afternoon, visit Hunder Village and take a ride on the famous Bactrian camels in the sand dunes of Nubra. You can also visit the Diskit Monastery, which is known for its huge Buddha statue. Overnight stay in Nubra Valley.
Day 4. Nubra Valley to Pangong Lake via Shayok
After breakfast, drive from Nubra to Pangong Lake via the Shayok route. The drive offers stunning views of the rugged terrain and barren mountains. On arrival at Pangong Lake (14,270 feet), enjoy the mesmerizing views of the crystal-clear water, which changes color with the shifting sunlight. Spend some time by the lake, capturing the beauty of this high-altitude lake. Pangong Lake, which stretches across India and China, is one of the most famous tourist destinations in Ladakh. Overnight stay in a camp or guesthouse near Pangong Lake.
Day 5. Nubra Valley to Pangong Lake via Shayok
After breakfast, drive from Nubra to Pangong Lake via the Shayok route. The drive offers stunning views of the rugged terrain and barren mountains. Upon reaching Tso Moriri, the beauty of the lake, surrounded by snow-capped mountains, is truly enchanting. You can spend time around the lake, enjoy the serene environment, and photograph the stunning views. Overnight stay in camps near the lake.
Day 7. Tso Moriri Lake to Leh
In the morning, after a peaceful time by the lake, drive back to Leh. The route will offer more scenic views of the rugged terrain, nomadic settlements, and high-altitude deserts. On arrival in Leh, check in to your hotel. Spend the rest of the day at leisure, either relaxing or exploring the local markets. You can also visit the Leh Palace or stroll along the Indus River. Overnight stay in Leh.
Day 8. Leh to Alchi and Lamayuru
Today, after breakfast, drive to Alchi Monastery, a 1,000-year-old Tibetan Buddhist monastery known for its stunning murals and architecture. Then, head to Lamayuru Monastery, one of the oldest and most famous monasteries in Ladakh, also known for its "moon-like" landscapes. The journey will take you through scenic roads and picturesque villages. After visiting the monasteries, return to Leh for your overnight stay.
Day 9. Departure from Leh
After breakfast, check out from your hotel and head to Leh Airport for your onward journey. Depending on your flight timing, you may have some free time to do some last-minute shopping in Leh’s market or simply enjoy the surrounding views.
