Day 1. Arrival in Amritsar – Golden Temple.
Arrive in Amritsar and check into your hotel. Start your journey by visiting the Golden Temple (Harmandir Sahib), the holiest shrine in Sikhism. The atmosphere here is serene, and the temple is surrounded by a holy pool, adding to its tranquility. Spend time soaking in the spiritual ambiance, walk around the sacred pool, and visit the Langar (community kitchen) for a free meal. You can also visit the Jallianwala Bagh memorial, which commemorates the tragic 1919 massacre. The day ends with a peaceful night at your hotel.
Day 2. Amritsar – Takht Sri Damdama Sahib (Bathinda).
After breakfast, embark on a drive to Takht Sri Damdama Sahib in Bathinda, located about 3 hours away from Amritsar. This Takht is where Guru Gobind Singh Ji compiled the Adi Granth, the holy scripture of Sikhism. Visit the Gurudwara Damdama Sahib, which is a symbol of Sikh tradition and history. Spend some time reflecting at this peaceful site and learn about the history and significance of the Gurudwara. Afterward, visit the Gurudwara Sarai Baba Nanak in Bathinda, and explore the local markets for some souvenirs. Return to your hotel for an overnight stay.
Day 3. Amritsar – Anandpur Sahib (Takht Sri Keshgarh Sahib)
After breakfast, depart for Anandpur Sahib, the birthplace of the Khalsa and the location of Takht Sri Keshgarh Sahib, one of the five Takhts. This Takht holds historical importance as it was here that Guru Gobind Singh Ji created the Khalsa Panth in 1699. The Gurudwara Keshgarh Sahib is a place of spiritual significance for Sikhs, and the surrounding area is filled with historical monuments and sites. Explore the Anandpur Sahib Complex and visit the Takht Sri Keshgarh Sahib Museum for insights into Sikh history. Enjoy the evening in Anandpur Sahib and spend the night in a local hotel.
Day 4. Anandpur Sahib – Patna (Takht Sri Patna Sahib)
After breakfast, head to Patna, the birthplace of Guru Gobind Singh Ji, and home to Takht Sri Patna Sahib. This Gurudwara is an important pilgrimage site, especially for Sikhs. It is located on the banks of the Ganges River and is one of the holiest Takhts. The Gurudwara is known for its impressive architecture and historical significance. Take some time to meditate and reflect on the teachings of Guru Gobind Singh Ji at the Gurudwara Patna Sahib. In the evening, enjoy the peaceful ambiance of the city and return to your hotel for a restful night.
Day 5. Patna – Nanded (Takht Sri Hazur Sahib)
After breakfast, travel to Nanded, located in Maharashtra, to visit Takht Sri Hazur Sahib. This Takht is considered one of the most significant as it marks the place where Guru Gobind Singh Ji spent his last years and where he left his physical body. The Gurudwara Hazur Sahib is a prominent Sikh shrine and an architectural marvel. Visit the Sach Khand and the Bunga Sahib within the complex to pay your respects. The site holds immense historical and religious significance, and spending time here offers a deep connection with Sikh traditions. Overnight stay in Nanded.
Day 6. Nanded – Amritsar
After breakfast, return to Amritsar, retracing the spiritual journey you have experienced over the past few days. Upon your arrival, you can take some time to relax, or, if you wish, revisit the Golden Temple to offer your final prayers. You may also explore other local attractions such as Durgiana Temple or the Maharaja Ranjit Singh Museum. Enjoy some local shopping and savor the culinary delights of Amritsar, including Amritsari kulchas and lassi. End your day with a peaceful reflection at the Golden Temple.
Day 7. Departure from Amritsar
On the final day of your Panj Takht Express tour, enjoy a relaxed breakfast at your hotel. Depending on your departure time, you may have a last chance to explore the local markets for souvenirs or enjoy a final visit to the Golden Temple. Afterward, you’ll be transferred to the Amritsar Railway Station or Airport for your onward journey, carrying with you the memories of a deeply spiritual and enriching experience across the five Takhts of Sikhism.
